Finishing Howatch

I picked up the ninth and (so far) last of Susan Howatch's Starbridge-St Benet's novels today. I don't think I've ever read a series of novels this long before. The first six (or two trilogies), the Starbridge series, revolve around a fictional English diocese in the twentieth century (first in the '30s-'40s and then in the '60s), and the last three, the St Benet's trilogy, deal with healing in modern ('90s) London. I started them in the winter and have been reading them on and off since; I read the eighth book in less than a week...finished it Monday. I don't know what I'll do when I reach the end. Maybe I'll start blogging again, maybe I'll start reading some of the books Howatch references, but I'm liable to start over with the first novel and read them all again.

Update (Monday, July 31): Finished the last page yesterday. I'll probably take a short break since things are kinda crazy at work right now, but once things settle down I'll start re-reading. Then again, some familiar fiction might help me get through the craziness....

A Prairie Home Companion

All-star cast? Acclaimed by critics and fans? A movie I've been waiting for? Yeah, it was in town all of one week. I should have known, but I'm still pissed.
